Pg.26 “The Veiled Place” Part 2

Posted by: admin   in 2. The Journey

We awoke early to continue on our journey. Emily said that she dreamt we went to Glastonbury. A few calls to some of her friends and we were on our way. The trip was long and boring but the closer we got the more a strange feeling came over me. It was like I was so dreadfully tired and my body felt weighted, so I just rested silently for the trip.

Emily was full of energy and excitement when we arrived. “It’s here, I know it” she keep saying. Here was a big place. So we visited some local areas and collected bits of folklore, then settled in for the night. In the morning we were to visit Glastonbury Abbey, linked to the famed tale of Avalon. Considering all we had learned and experienced it seemed like a good place to start.

We woke a tad late for such a trip as was planned for the day, but I was so tired, I felt drugged and lethargic. We had our breakfast and made arrangements for the trip but as we were leaving I had a sudden urge to speak to the inn keeper. She was a crabby woman with mouse brown hair in a braid pulled back so tight it looked like it would pull the skin from her face. But when I asked her about religious sites other than the Abbey she became most animated. She told us about a well that some say was the fountain of youth. The Chalice Well she said and told us where to find it.

The well once we made our way to it, was a natural spring thought to have healing powers. I knew it was not the Veil, but it had the same feel has the door we had found. A man near by was selling glasses of the waters from the well to the tourist there to see it. I sent Em to buy us some but the water she returned with was not from the well. I dipped my finger in the little cup but felt nothing. Approaching the man, I told him it was not the water from the well. He tired to assure me it was, so I took my voice a bit louder. Finally the man said I was going to ruin his business, if I did not leave but I refused. After a few minutes of my glaring he went over to his car and came back with a jar. Just a bit he said, it was for his wife’s crippling hands. I had him fill the cup, slipped him a hundred dollar bill and walked back over to where Emily was sitting on the ground waiting.

The cup warmed in my hands, the water smelled sweet and fresh, almost like lilac. I dipped my finger in. Images flashed through my mind so violently fast I almost dropped the cup. I drank half of it down quickly. I immediately felt, well, rejuvenated. But that was not all, magic coursed through my body warm and sensual. I had Emily taste it but she felt nothing. Not only did I feel like better, I knew where the Veil was!
