Pg.70 “Coronation”
The day was very warm and bright, the people came out in masses as far as the eye could see. I was so nervous! I remember it felt like my gown was made of lead, my rapidly expanding waist didn’t help. It was of the deepest red threaded with gold, and a sheer shimmering overlay of gold, that trained out far behind me. The bodice was cut low and snug. My hair hung loose around me, roses and vines twisted through and weaved to my waist. A simple thin gold band circle my forehead. The children were all a buzz with excitement. Honestly they were driving me insane. I had to finally have Mother Willow take them for a walk so that I could get a few moments peace.
The castle was over flowing with people, all talking at once, all moving in different directions constantly. It was dizzying! Nicky was just as nervous as I. He had become accustom to our world easily but to be appointed my personal secretary had him all nerves. Ash was almost as bad, he however was just worried if he looked good, he was being appointed my Personal Counselor and Captain of the Guard. I finally had to shoo them all out so I could relax. I stood looking at myself in the mirror one last time when Raven entered the room.
His hair hung in black waves and curls to his shoulders, he had a single thin braid at one temple intwined with gold ribbon. He powerful legs were covered in black leather breeches which looked positively sinful. His shirt hung open, the sleeves loose down to the wrist where he wore fur bracers, dyed red to match my gown and tied with gold and black ribbon. As always he was beautiful. “It’s time” he said, leading me from the room.
The affair began with the wedding of Raven and I. He swore his fealty to me and we exchanged rings. It’s a blur really. Next we were crowned by Odin. We then held a family ceremony with the children. Last we gave out appointments to Hamish, Nicky, Ash and Raven’s other best friend Tal.
After all the formal ceremony a feast and celebration was held in the castle, another outside and others at all the taverns and inns. It was a great day of merriment for all.
