Pg.76 “Sibling Rivalry”

The next few days I spent resting, I didn’t need to I was perfectly healed within two days of Hawkins birth. However I knew that I wouldn’t get an excuse to lay around again often. Mother Willow arrived and planned to stay with us for a month. Everyone one we knew arrived to give well wishes and to see the babe. We were all deliriously happy! I thought…

A week after Hawkins was born Hiila was brought to the castle to give birth. How I wanted to demand her silence, but I knew that what was done was for the sake of the kingdom. I stayed with her until the child was born as did Emily, Mother Willow and Mora. In the late hours of the night she gave birth to a small but healthy son. They named him Jack, he had green hair and eyes to match, and the cutest dimpled rosy cheeks. They stayed with us for eight days before returning home.

It was after seeing Odin and Hiila to the door that I over heard two troubling conversations.

One was Izzy and Neil sitting on the steps devising a plan to steal Hawkins and sell him. The other was Raven and Echo’s angry hushed voices coming through Raven’s library door. It was the second that I decided to spy into.

I leaned into the door trying to hear what they were saying, I could tell that it wasn’t anything nice. I could hear one of them pacing back and forth, heavy boots on marble, then nothing. I started to give up when I heard a loud crash. I reached for the door handle and was just about to rush in when Echo threw open the door, holding his face. Blood trickled through his fingers “Sister” he said, stepping around me. Raven stood by the long table at the window, pouring mead from a pitcher. I walked in closing the door behind me.
